Deborah does Banana Smoothie

Are you a smoothie lover or need a quick breakfast to get you through the day? This week’s smoothie recipe is one of my breakfast favourites. I have it most mornings and it is so simple and cheap to make. Win! The ingredients used are particularly good for keeping your energy levels high, find out why.

What you will need for the smoothie:

200ml (add more if you like) Almond Milk
1 x Banana
1 x Scoop Protein Powder
1 x Teaspoon Chia Seeds
1 x Handful of Mixed Berries

How to make it:

Blend for 2 mins or if your blender has a smoothie button, click that.

Sprinkle the chia seeds on the top of the smoothie and mix in with a spoon.

Hello, delicious ice cream smoothie.

Now, for the energy part

Almond milk – Almond milk is low fat, low sugar and lactose-free. I often get a sore stomach when I have a lot of lactose, so I find almond milk is a great substitute.

Banana – Banana is a great source of energy – rich in potassium, packed with vitamins, and tastes damn good. The banana is awesome in smoothies because its rich, thick texture will make your smoothie ice-cream like. Yum! A little trick, pop your bananas in the freezer before you use them, then you will really get an ice cream taste.

Protein powder – The protein is important for muscle repair when you are exercising a lot. I also find that it helps fill me up. The added bonus is my protein in chocolate, so my smoothie tastes like chocolate ice-cream! You can use whatever flavour protein depending on what ice cream you like. The protein I used is actually delicious, you can buy it here, get double choc 🙂

Mixed Berries – ANTIOXIDANTS! Seriously amazing, not just do these berries provide a beautiful purple colour and sweet flavour, the health benefits are ridiculous.
